On July 16, 2019, the Firearms Licensing Board in Kenya announced its support for sports shooting, with its chair, Charles Mukindia, stating that the board will develop policies to regulate the sport and provide necessary travel documents for shooting sportsmen and women.
Speaking to Standard Sports, Mukindia emphasized the board's commitment to supporting shooting sportsmen and women, saying, "So far we are very happy with the activities of the shooting association and we are ready to do more for them including developing policies to regulate the sport."
The International Defence Pistol (IDPA) shooting is one of the fastest-growing forms of the sport in Kenya, regulated by the National Gun Owners Association.
As part of its support, the Firearms Licensing Board will provide necessary travel documents for shooting sportsmen and women, giving them the freedom to participate in international competitions.
Charles Mukindia received the Kenyan flag and trophy from IDPA Expert shooter and instructor Sammy Onyango after winning gold at the MagTech Cup in Hungary last month.
