On July 16, 2019, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko visited Eden House Rehabilitation Centre in Diani to check on the progress of former boxing heroine Conjestina Achieng, who has been recovering from drug addiction.
During his visit, Sonko urged the youth to shun drugs and encouraged those who are already hooked to seek help, stating that there are rehabilitation centres across the country where addicts can get assistance.
Conjestina, who was airlifted by Sonko to the rehab centre last year after her sorry state was highlighted by the media, thanked the governor for his support and hailed his efforts in helping her recover.
Conjestina dismissed speculation that she had escaped the rehab, stating that 'a lot has been said about me but it is not all true.'
