On July 15, 2019, AFC Leopards chairman Dan Shikanda confirmed that defender Yusuf Mainge had left the 12-time Kenyan Premier League champions to join FK Pohronie of Slovakia.
Mainge, who was signed by Ingwe in 2018 after completing his secondary school education at Kakamega High School, has parted ways with the club.
Shikanda also announced that the team would be unveiling their new signings on Friday in Mumias, where the team is currently pitching camp ahead of the new season.
The 12-time Kenyan Premier League champions, who finished 11th last season, will kick off their new season campaign with an away match against Kakamega Homeboyz at Bukhungu Stadium on September 1.
Shikanda stated that the team has completed the signing of six players so far but is still waiting to sign two more players, including a forward, a winger, and a right back, to bolster the squad before the campaign kicks off.
‘We have signed very top players who we believe will add value to our team. Our aim is to restore the lost glory this club has and identity that needs to be protected, and that must start by signing players who understand the importance of playing for the badge,’ Shikanda said.
Leopards have also lined up a series of friendly matches, which Shikanda believes will be helpful in preparing the team for the new season.
