On April 23, 2022, the Ministry of Education announced the results of the 2021 KCSE exams, with Jeriel Ndeda Obura of Mang’u High School emerging as the top national student with an A- point average of 87.167.
According to the results, 826,807 students sat for the exams, a 10.66% increase from the 747,000 students who sat for the 2020 KCSE exams.
Obura was followed closely by Timothy Kamau of Alliance High School, who scored 87.139, and Job Ngara of Mang’u High School, who scored 87.1 and secured the third position.
Other students who secured top positions include David Kamau of St Joseph's Boys' High School, Kitale, who scored 87.1, and Ramadhan Musa Tepo of Light Academy, who also scored 87.1.
Sicily Mutheu of Kenya High School secured the fourth position with a score of 87.086, while Ian Mwai Toyota of Kakamega High School secured the fifth position with a score of 87.08.
Shekinah Arita of Kenya High School secured the sixth position with a score of 87.079, while Daniel Ouma of Light Academy secured the seventh position with a score of 87.0.
Other students who scored 87.0 include Brenda Cherutich of Kipsigis Girls' High School, Mugane Job Ngatia of Strathmore School, Pretie Ariona Adanga of Kapsabet Boys' High School, Caleb Mutethia of Mang’u High School, Abiyah Melania Nelima of Kenya High School, and Millicent Wamuru of Kenya High School.
