Published on July 15, 2019, AFC Leopards defender Yusuf Mainge has left the 12-time Kenyan Premier League champions to join FK Pohronie of Slovakia.

Mainge, who was signed by Ingwe in 2018 after completing his secondary school education at Kakamega High School, has parted ways with the team.

Club chairman Dan Shikanda confirmed the departure, stating that the team will unveil their new signings on Friday in Mumias, where they are currently pitching camp ahead of the new season.

The team will kick off their new season campaign with an away match against Kakamega Homeboyz at Bukhungu Stadium on September 1.

Shikanda has earmarked bolstering the squad before the campaign kicks off, with the team having completed the signing of six players so far.

‘We have are looking at a forward, a winger and right back now that Mainge has left the club,’ Shikanda said.

He added, ‘We have signed very top players who we believe will add value to our team. Our aim is to restore the lost glory this club has and identity that needs to be protected, and that must start by signing players who understand the importance of playing for the badge.’

Leopards have lined up a series of friendly matches, which Shikanda believes will be helpful in preparing the team for the new season.
