July 15, 2019, marked a turning point in Kenya's music scene, as local artists began to gain traction and Nigerian music started to lose its popularity.
Clubs, radio, and TV stations that once played Nigerian music non-stop have shifted their focus to local musicians, particularly the new-age artists.
The emergence of Ethic, a group known for their hit song 'Lamba Lolo,' was a significant factor in this shift. Their unique style and danceable beats captivated Kenyans, and soon, other groups like Sailors Gang, Boondocks Gang, and Ochunglo Family followed suit.
These new-age artists are characterized by their restless nature, constantly releasing hits and pushing the boundaries of Kenyan music.
As a result, Nigerian music has largely been replaced by Tanzanian music, and Kenyans are embracing their local talent.
