US President Donald Trump has sparked outrage with his latest attack on liberal Democratic congresswomen, echoing his previous racist and xenophobic comments.
On Monday, Trump took to Twitter to lash out at the congresswomen, saying they should apologise to the US, Israel, and the Office of the President for their 'foul language' and 'terrible things' they have said.
Trump's comments come after he initially attacked the congresswomen on Sunday, saying they came from 'corrupt, poorly managed countries' and should return to them.
The congresswomen in question are Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts.
Trump's latest comments have been widely condemned by Democratic presidential candidates and senior legislators, who have branded them racist and xenophobic.
Trump's history of making racist and xenophobic comments is well-documented, including his 2018 reference to African countries as 'shithole nations' and his description of the influx of US-bound migrants as an 'invasion.'
He has also been a leading proponent of the 'birther' conspiracy theory that Barack Obama was not born on US soil and therefore could not legally be president.
