Published on July 15, 2019, a popular song in my youth had a line: 'If you want my future, forget my past.' This issue of your lover's past is one that can plague young couples.

However, the past is not always a defining factor in a person's life. By the time we reach 30, we've likely undergone significant changes and growth, making our past selves irrelevant to our current relationships.

It's essential to distinguish between past mistakes or experiences that have a direct impact on our present, such as contracting an STD or having a child with someone else. These issues must be discussed in a new relationship.

On the other hand, the number of exes or the details of past relationships are often unnecessary and can create unnecessary guilt or anxiety in a current partner.

As the saying goes, 'God blessed the broken road that led me straight to you.' We should take the lessons from our past, leave the mess behind, and move forward. This applies to all decent, well-meaning human beings.
