On the eve of the UDA nominations in Nakuru Town West, MP Samuel Arama has issued a bold warning to potential challengers: he's ready for them.
Speaking from his London home, the second-term legislator expressed confidence in his ability to defend his seat, citing his numerous achievements for the people of Nakuru Town West.
‘I want to tell whoever will emerge the winner to brace for a tough battle because it’s not going to be easy for them. I have accomplished a lot for my people and I’ll be dwelling on the same track record in defending my seat,’ he said.
Despite claims that Nakuru County is a stronghold of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), Arama reiterated that the region is solidly behind the Azimio la Umoja movement under the leadership of President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
He also dismissed rumors of William Ruto's massive popularity, pointing to the low voter turnout during the party primaries as evidence that the Azimio movement remains strong.
Arama, who was first elected in 2013 on the ODM ticket and re-elected in 2017 on the Jubilee party ticket, is optimistic of victory on August 9 through the ruling party.
He has been a vocal supporter of President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration, and analysts credit his loyalty with spurring development in his constituency.
One notable achievement is the improvement of education standards in Nakuru Town West, thanks to increased allocation of bursaries to needy but bright students.
