On July 14, 2019, Novak Djokovic made history by claiming his fifth Wimbledon title, defeating eight-time champion Roger Federer in a thrilling final.
The 32-year-old Serbian saved two match points to take his Grand Slam tally to 16, matching the record of Bjorn Borg and leaving Federer with four more titles to reach the all-time record.
"Novak, King of Tennis," read the front-page headline of the Blic daily paper, while the Vecernje Novosti paper echoed with "The fifth Crown for the King."
According to the Blic, Djokovic's mental strength was the key to his victory, as he handled the crucial moments with ease despite not playing his best tennis.
"He certainly did not play his best tennis but he knew how to handle the key moments due to his main weapon, his mental strength," Blic commented.
The Danas daily paper described the match as a perfect tennis match, offering suspense, drama, and a happy ending for Djokovic.
"One has to be honest and note that Federer played impeccably. Most of the time he was the better player on the court. Two missed match points are unbelievable. But, here, he missed them," the paper said.
