Published on July 15, 2019, Tanzania's National Bureau of Statistics reported a 0.2% increase in the annual headline inflation rate from 3.5% to 3.7% in June.
The overall index rose to 117.03 in June this year from 112.81 in June 2018, with the inflation rate for food and non-alcoholic beverages rising to 2.3% in June from 2.2% in May.
Kenya's inflation rate, however, dropped by 0.69% in June this year from 205.77 in May, with overall inflation standing at 5.70% in June 2019.
The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics attributed the drop in inflation to favourable weather conditions that boosted food production, leading to lower prices for some commodities.
Uganda's inflation rate rose by 0.1% between May and June, from 3.3% to 3.4%, with the Uganda Bureau of Statistics attributing this to annual core inflation, which rose to 4.9% for the year ending June 2019.
