On April 11, 2022, a city lawyer, John Kiumi Wambugu, and his client, Allan Mbugua Njuguna, appeared before Milimani Chief Magistrate Wendy Kagendo to face charges of conspiracy to defraud a landowner.
The allegations against Wambugu and Njuguna stem from a land sales agreement dated March 25, 2017, between Bunmax Investments Limited and Farasi Marketing Limited. It is alleged that the agreement was falsely presented as genuine and valid, and that Njuguna presented himself as a director of Bunmax Investments Limited.
The court heard that Wambugu and Njuguna committed the offence on March 25, 2017, at Wambugu and Muriuki advocates, located at Lonrho office in Nairobi. Njuguna is also accused of forging a land transfer form between the two companies and presenting it as genuine to the Chief Land Registrar on July 13, 2017, at Ardhi House in Nairobi.
Wambugu was granted a cash bail of Sh100,000, while Njuguna was released on a bond of Sh1 million.
