July 15, 2019 - Amidst the reported infighting within the ruling Jubilee party, Deputy President William Ruto made a shocking claim on Twitter, alleging that the party's Secretary-General Raphael Tuju has become the chief strategist for opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Tuju had recently spoken about the Uhuru-Raila handshake and his new friendship with the ODM leader, stating, 'Any mobilisation against a tribe is not welcome in my scheme of thought.' He also clarified that he has no interest in returning to politics, saying, 'I have no interest whatsoever of becoming the governor of Siaya for example or MP for Rarieda.'

However, Tuju's comments were defended by Moses Kuria, who told Ruto not to attack the messenger. Kuria claimed that the Jubilee party had gone into 'political bankruptcy' on March 9, 2018, following the famous handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.

"Dear my good friend Deputy President William Ruto. Jubilee went into political bankruptcy on the 9th of March 2018. The nature and configuration of Kenya's politics forced us into Article 11 Bankruptcy," Kuria wrote on Facebook.
