On February 21 and 22, four Kenya Power and Lighting Company employees allegedly vandalized a 100 KVA transformer at Gateiguru valued at Ksh 700,000.
David Murithi Githinji, Henry Mbae, Jackson Thuo Macharia, and Jared Juma Oyoo also faced charges of vandalizing a 50KVA transformer valued at Sh1.2 million at Kilimambogo in Thika East Sub County on January 26 and 27, jointly with others.
They were further charged with receiving Ksh 908,610 being proceeds of illegal sale of the transformers while working as Kenya Power and Lighting Company officers.
The four employees will remain in custody until April 21 when the terms of their bond will be determined.
Separately, three Insurance claims officers have been released on a bond of Ksh 1 million after denying 26 counts of Insurance fraud amounting to over Ksh 40 million.
Michael Kamau Mwangi, Daniel Mwaniki Kahora, and Paul Njoroge Waithaka allegedly facilitated fraudulent liability claims between July 20, 2015, and July 3, 2020, with intent to defraud CIC General Insurance Limited.
