On July 14, 2019, Senegal secured a spot in the Africa Cup of Nations final for the second time in their history, defeating Tunisia in a thrilling match.

Senegal dominated the first half, producing seven shots to Tunisia's two, but failed to capitalize on their best opportunity when Sadio Mane missed an open goal.

Tunisia improved after the interval and were awarded a penalty when Ferjani Sassi's effort struck Kalidou Koulibaly's arm, but Sassi's spot-kick lacked power and direction and was saved by Alfred Gomis.

Four minutes later, Senegal were given a penalty of their own when Ismaila Sarr was brought down by Tunisia defender Dylan Bronn, but Henri Saivet's shot was kept out by Tunisia goalkeeper Mouez Hassen.

However, in the extra period, Hassen inadvertently gifted victory to Senegal when he tipped Sadio Mane's free-kick onto Bronn's head, resulting in an own goal.

Senegal will face either Algeria or Nigeria in the final, with influential captain Kalidou Koulibaly suspended for the match.
