Chinese Man's Racist Rant Sparks Outrage in Kenya

On September 5, 2018, a video surfaced on social media showing a Chinese man working in Kenya making racist remarks about President Uhuru Kenyatta and Kenyans.

The man, who worked at Sonlink Limited in Ruiru, was caught on camera saying that Kenyans 'smell' and are 'monkeys.'

The video sparked widespread outrage on social media, with many Kenyans calling for the man's deportation.

Twitter user @Asmali77 wrote, 'Shocking! Impunity of the highest order. Unbelievable! A Chinese selling bikes in Kenya has the audacity to insult Kenyans and President @UKenyatta calling them monkeys & smelly. Do you know him? Let’s expose him.'

Another Twitter user, @RobertAlai, shared a series of videos showing the man's racist rant and wrote, 'This man works at Sonlink Limited which sells bikes in Ruiru along the bypass. Various cases of mistreatment of Kenyans have been reported about this company but COTU, Labour Ministry and @ImmigrationDept doesn't care.'

The man was arrested and was set to be deported the next morning, according to @RobertAlai.

Many Kenyans took to social media to express their outrage and call for the man's deportation, with some even asking for photos of his deportation to confirm that he had left the country.
