Published on July 14, 2019, Victor Wanyama, the Harambee Stars captain and Tottenham midfielder, is on the cusp of acquiring his British passport.

Wanyama had put off a proposed move abroad last year to ensure he qualified for his passport after residing in the UK for over six years, according to the Daily Mail.

Although his last season was marred by a knee injury, Wanyama finished strongly and played three games in nine days for Kenya in the African Cup of Nations, completing 90 minutes in each.

Tottenham are open to offers for Wanyama, along with other players like Vincent Janssen, Kieran Trippier, Danny Rose, and Serge Aurier.

With European transfer windows open longer than the UK's, Wanyama could yet move abroad later next month.

Should he obtain his British passport, Wanyama will hold dual citizenship, permissible under Kenya's laws.

He will follow in the footsteps of former 'Kenya One' Arnold Origi, who acquired Norwegian citizenship two years ago, as well as other African stars like Didier Drogba and Samuel Eto'o who hold dual citizenship.
