On Sunday, a 75-year-old woman was found burnt to death in her house at Rachar village in Rarieda, Siaya County.
According to area Assistant Chief George Odhiambo, the incident was reported after suspicious neighbours informed him of the situation.
Mr. Odhiambo visited the home of Benedetta Auma Okelo and found her dead, with no other thing burnt in the house, not even her beddings.
The area administrator stated that the cause of the fire is yet to be established, but they suspect it may have resulted from a tin lamp the woman had been using.
The body of the deceased has since been transferred to Madiany sub-county hospital mortuary for postmortem as investigations begin into the matter.
