On April 1, 2022, the Zambian High Commission was allegedly defrauded of a parcel of land on Ngong Road, sparking a court case involving senior land officials.
According to court documents, public land officer Andrew Kirungu and land officer Nicholas Muchoge have been summoned to court to plead to charges of conspiracy to defraud the Zambian High Commission.
They are accused of forging a title deed to the land, which measures 0.75, and aiding the fraudulent registration of the land in the name of Neeraj Jayatilal Kalaiya.
The court heard that the officials committed the offence on unknown dates, jointly with others not before court, with intent to defraud.
On October 1, 2021, Kalaiya allegedly claimed possession of the parcel in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace against the Zambian High Commission, despite the land belonging to the commission.
Another official, Gilbert Oyoo, was present in court but did not plead to the charges, while Kalaiya and James Onunga have already denied the charges.
