July 14, 2019 - Deputy President William Ruto has responded to reports that Raphael Tuju, the Jubilee Party's Secretary-General, is advising Raila Odinga on the 2022 elections.

According to a Sunday Nation report, despite Tuju's past disagreements with Raila in the 2013 and 2017 presidential elections, he has now become a key advisor to Raila.

Tuju's alleged role in advising Raila has sparked outrage among Ruto's supporters, who have called for his resignation as Jubilee Party Secretary-General.

"This is a clear betrayal of the Jubilee Party's values," Ruto's supporters said.

Responding to the allegations, Ruto tweeted: "Democracy has reached a new level where the Secretary-General of the ruling party is an advisor to the opposition leader!"

This is not the first time Ruto has spoken out against senior officials in the Jubilee Party. In June, he warned party officials against using their positions for personal gain.

"Party officials must understand that they are not there to serve their personal interests but to serve the party and the country," Ruto said.
