Waiguru and Kamotho's Wedding Celebrations

On July 13, 2019, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru married her husband, Kamotho, in a grand ceremony attended by high-profile guests including President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.

The wedding, which was a highly anticipated event, saw the couple exchange vows in a beautiful ceremony. The bride, Waiguru, was seen dancing and enjoying herself with her friends and family before the ceremony.

One of the unique aspects of the wedding was the 'cutting of the shoulder' ceremony, also known as the Cutting kiande ceremony. This is a traditional Maasai custom where the groom cuts a piece of meat from a roasted goat while the bride holds onto it. The act is recognized in law as a symbol of customary marriage.

After the ceremony, the couple was seen feeding each other pieces of meat, a gesture that symbolized their union.

The wedding was a grand affair, with many notable figures in attendance. The couple's love and commitment to each other were evident in the joy and happiness that filled the air.
