Anne Waiguru Marries Lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo in Lavish Traditional Wedding ¶
On July 13, 2019, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and her lawyer boyfriend Kamotho Waiganjo exchanged their vows in a traditional Kikuyu wedding called 'ngurario' at Kiamugumo Primary School in Ngariama Ward, Gichugu Sub County.
The ngurario was attended by close friends and family members of the two, as well as high-profile guests including President Uhuru Kenyatta, Opposition leader Raila Odinga, and former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka.
Others present in the ceremony included Siaya Senator James Orengo, Murang'a Woman Rep Sabina Chege, Senator Ledama, Karanja Kibicho, CS Amina Mohammed, and CS Michael Kamau among others.
Waiguru and Waiganjo had been in a relationship for over 10 years, having met at a ferry in Likoni 10 years ago. They shared a meal of bread and soda, which Waiganjo later revealed had melted his heart, making him realize that Waiguru was a 'basic girl' despite her career and achievements.
The couple had previously gotten engaged in a lavish ceremony held at the Lord Erroll hotel in Nairobi on February 16, 2019, two days after Valentine's Day.
