March 24, 2022, marked a significant day for Raila Odinga, the Azimio la Umoja Presidential flag bearer, as he emphasized the need for Kenyans to trust him to turn around the country's economic fortunes.
Speaking at an event organized at his party headquarters in Nairobi, Odinga claimed that his understanding of issues affecting the country and their corresponding solutions is key to changing the economic trajectory of Kenya.
He insisted that the solution does not lie in what his main rival, Deputy President William Ruto, has been promoting, specifically the Bottom-Up economic model.
“Our economy has suffered because of bad leadership and management. But we can change all that so that Kenyans can enjoy its benefits,” Odinga said.
He added that his coalition, Azimio la Umoja, has examples of successful and failed projects that they intend to build upon, citing the revival of state institutions such as the Kenya Meat Commission (KMC).
With recent endorsements to his candidature, Raila expressed confidence that his coalition will mount a strong campaign that will propel him to win the eagerly-awaited poll, paving way for him to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
