On a fateful Friday night, a 25-year-old man named Dennis Korir descended upon Menet village in Soin-Sigowet constituency, armed with a panga. His target was Samuel Ngetich, a neighbour who would soon become his victim.
According to eyewitness Stanley Kaptich, Korir arrived at Ngetich's compound, picked a quarrel with him, and attacked him with the panga, killing him instantly. The witness and others tried to intervene, but Korir's rampage continued, leaving two others injured.
‘We tried to arrest the suspect, but he also cut Nehemiah Kaptich (40) on the head and Josephine Langat on her hand,’ Kaptich told the police. The two injured victims were rushed to Sigowet Sub-County Hospital for treatment before being referred to Kericho County Hospital.
Police are now on the hunt for Korir, who fled the scene with the panga after the attack. This incident comes just a day after a similar incident in Cheborgei village, where a woman killed her employer over a Sh150 debt.
