Published on July 13, 2019, this easy recipe for crispy fried chicken is a game-changer for anyone who loves a crunchy exterior and juicy interior.

While many people swear by breadcrumbs, we prefer using crushed corn flakes for that extra crunch. Simply crush the corn flakes and proceed with the recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 1kg chicken wings and drumsticks
  • 200g corn flakes
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic ginger paste
  • 1 teaspoon curry powder
  • 1 cup white flour
  • 1 litre oil for frying

Instructions:

Start by crushing the corn flakes using your hands or a rolling pin. Be careful not to over-crush them, as you want them to remain flaky.

Next, marinate the chicken in a mixture of curry powder, black pepper, garlic ginger paste, salt, and lime juice. Let it sit for about an hour to allow the flavors to penetrate.

Beat the eggs with a tablespoon of water and mix well. Coat each chicken piece with the white flour, then dip it into the beaten eggs, and finally coat it with the crushed corn flakes. Repeat this process with the remaining chicken pieces.

Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat and deep-fry the chicken pieces until golden brown. Remove them from the oil and place them on a baking tray. Bake them at 180 degrees Celsius for about 10 minutes to get an extra crust on the outside and ensure the wings are fully cooked inside.

Enjoy your crispy fried chicken with a sauce or dip of your choice. We recommend a simple mayonnaise and hot sauce combination.
