Lawrence Masira, a 9-year-old Kenyan boy, has been making headlines since March 2019 after a photo of him wearing a self-made Arsenal jersey with the inscription 'Ozil 10' went viral online.
On July 11, 2019, Masira, also known as 'Ozil Boy,' stepped out of the tunnel in Egypt as one of the ball boys during the Tunisia vs Madagascar African Cup of Nations quarter-final match.
Earlier this year, Masira was spotted herding cows in an Arsenal shirt with the name Ozil inscribed at the back. Royal Media Services sports journalist Erick Njiru took his pictures and through Twitter, caught the attention of the Arsenal midfielder, Mesut Ozil, who sent goodies that included a jersey and boots to the youngster.
On May 2019, things got better for the boy when he was named Visa Players Escort Ambassador for AFCON and led a group of ball boys out of the tunnel on Thursday night.
"Super happy to see Lawrence aka the Ozil Boy as one of the escort kids during this year's Africa Cup of Nations. Another dream came true on Thursday in Egypt," Njiru tweeted.
