On a ferry in Likoni, a chance encounter 10 years ago marked the beginning of a beautiful love story between Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and Kamotho Waiganjo.

According to Waiganjo, the meeting at the ferry was the start of his pursuit of Waiguru, who had kept her love life private despite her high-profile career.

Waiganjo revealed that he was drawn to Waiguru's humility, as she chose to feast on bread and soda, making him realize that 'she was a basic girl.'

He collected her contacts and maintained communication, patiently waiting for her to agree to a date.

On their first date, Waiganjo took Waiguru to a Thai restaurant in Nairobi, but their evening was marred by a fight, with Waiguru on the phone for most of the date.

Despite the initial disagreement, the couple laid down ground rules to ensure a smoother relationship.

Fast-forward to 16 February 2019, Waiganjo formalized their relationship and paid dowry at the Lord Eroll Hotel in Nairobi, with close friends and relatives in attendance.

Confirming the engagement, Waiganjo stated, 'It was a beautiful ceremony. The time was right for us to take our relationship to the next level.'

Waiguru, however, was caught off guard by the proposal, revealing that they had not discussed formalizing their relationship.
