On July 13, 2019, Anne Mumbi and Kamotho Waiganjo will embark on a new journey together as they exchange vows in a traditional wedding, surrounded by an expected crowd of 4,000 people.
According to Anne, the couple has chosen to hold the ceremony in a public event to show that they have nothing to hide, dispelling rumors that they were hiding their feelings for each other.
As they prepare for their big day, questions have been raised about how Anne's marriage will affect her political ambitions, particularly in her role as Kirinyaga governor.
However, Kamotho has come to her defence, stating that people only make a big deal about a woman's marriage, while male politicians marry without any fuss.
Anne has reassured that she will continue to discharge her duties as governor regardless of her marital status, and that the wedding will be a great addition to their journey together.
The couple has been together for 10 years, and Kamotho has undergone all the rites set by Kikuyu traditions when asking for Anne's hand in marriage, including paying dowry.
However, he has chosen not to reveal the amount of dowry he paid, stating that it does not determine a woman's worth.
