On Sunday, US immigration officials are set to launch a nationwide operation targeting thousands of families in major cities across the country, according to various reports.

Just two weeks ago, President Trump delayed the operation at the request of Democrats, but it appears the raids are now back on track.

The operation, led by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), is expected to take place in at least 10 major cities, including Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, New York, and San Francisco.

ICE spokesperson Matthew Bourke refused to comment on the operation, but noted that the agency prioritizes the arrest and removal of individuals who pose a threat to national security, public safety, and border security.

Former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton criticized the plan in a tweet on Thursday, stating that the Trump administration is "weaponizing fear and bigotry" and threatening to go against the Supreme Court by demanding citizenship information through the Census.
