On June 12, Justice Martha Mutuku was set to deliver a judgement in the rape case against Alex Olaba, a rugby player, but he failed to appear in court.

His lawyer claimed that Olaba was stuck in traffic and unable to reach the court in time, leading the magistrate to defer the matter to July 12.

However, Olaba was still absent, prompting the court to issue a warrant of arrest for his failure to appear.

Olaba and his co-accused, Frank Wanyama, had denied the allegations and were released on a cash bail of Ksh. 500,000 each in August last year.

The case has now been deferred to August 5 at the Milimani Law Courts.
