Published on July 12, 2019, Xiaomi has made significant strides in providing timely Android OS updates, a common criticism of the company in the past. The latest development is the rollout of MIUI 10 based on Android Q for the Xiaomi Mi 9.

Users in China can now download and install the MIUI 10 beta 9.7.11 update, which includes features such as app-specific permissions for background apps, Dark Mode in the display settings, and more. While this update is currently limited to China, users with a global variant of the Mi 9 can still install the MIUI 10 ROM manually using the fastboot method, provided their bootloader is unlocked.

However, users are advised to exercise caution and wait for the stable rollout, expected in Q4 2019, if they are unsure about the process. The update brings several privacy-focused improvements to MIUI 10, making it an exciting development for Xiaomi fans.
