Kenya Inter-County Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA) has expanded its sporting disciplines to include handball and golf for the upcoming games.
According to sources, the addition of these two sports is part of the organization's efforts to promote sporting activities among county employees and Kenyan youths.
Handball will be contested alongside other competitions, including football, volleyball, basketball, netball, and athletics, during the August Games.
Scrabble and chess were added to the KICOSCA calendar last year, and this year's edition will feature the maiden appearance of four counties: Makueni, Turkana, Homa Bay, and Migori.
The seventh edition of KICOSCA will be held ahead of the East African Games scheduled for Kampala, Uganda in December.
Other games on the calendar include tug of war, ajua, pool, darts, badminton, table tennis, cultural dance, and choir.
Kericho County Governor Prof. Paul Chepkwony will be this year's events patron, having received the KICOSCA ceremonial chain and peace torch from his Kisii County counterpart James Ongwae.
