A recent poll by TIFA has revealed that Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja is the most popular Nairobi governor aspirant, with 23% support.
The poll, conducted between February 3 and 9, involving 1,541 respondents, shows a gap of 9 percentage points between Sakaja and Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi, who follows with 14% support.
Other notable aspirants include sitting governor Anne Kananu at 7%, Richard Ngatia at 6%, Mike Sonko at 5%, Bishop Margaret Wanjiru of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) at 4%, and MP Esther Passaris at 2%.
Notably, Anne Kagure, who recently launched her bid under the Jubilee party ticket, is not mentioned in the survey.
“Whilst Johnson Sakaja is currently the most popular aspirant for governor, the combination of his modest lead and the number of other contestants suggests that the outcome of this election is still unclear,” said the poll.
The poll also suggests that Sakaja would reclaim his Senate seat if elections were to be held today, garnering majority support at 8%, followed by Karen Nyamu at 4%, Maina Kamanda at 3%, and Edwin Sifuna at 2%.
However, the majority of Nairobi residents (75%) are undecided.
