According to MC Jessy, after finishing school, he came to Nairobi to look for a job, but he didn't have a place to stay. His classmate's parents took him in, and he lived with them in a small house in Kawangware.

MC Jessy revealed that he used to sell mandazi every morning, with his host's mother telling him to sell five extra mandazis and pay himself with them. During the day, he sold chips mwitu, which is why he's a good cook to date.

After staying with his host's family for months, MC Jessy moved on to another friend's house, where he became a shamba boy, washing clothes and cooking.

MC Jessy's struggles were real, and he has spoken about his experiences in the past. In a photo that emerged online, he captioned it, 'Wacheni mungu aitwe mungu..??????'
