On Friday morning, a tragic discovery was made at Egerton University in Njoro, Kenya.

A 5th year Engineering student at the university's main campus was found dead in his room.

According to Njoro sub-county police boss Mohammed Huka, the body had deep cuts, and a panga suspected to have been used in the killing was discovered next to the body.

Police officers have moved the body to Egerton University's funeral home as investigations into the death begin.

A postmortem will be carried out in the next few days, as the police work to determine the circumstances surrounding the student's death.

The identity of the student has not yet been revealed.
