Published on July 12, 2019, Kenya's national volleyball team, Malkia Strikers, secured a spot in the semi-finals of the Africa Nations Championships after a thrilling 3-2 win over champions Cameroon.
The match, played at the October 6 Hall in Giza, saw Malkia Strikers come back from two sets down to claim the victory in a five-set thriller (18-25, 16-25, 27-25, 29-27, 15-12).
Cameroon, who finished second in the pool, will face hosts Egypt in the other last four encounter, with a slot in Sunday's final at stake for the winners.
Malkia Strikers' tactician, Shaileen Ramdoo, made one change to the starting lineup, replacing Trizah Atuka with Sharon Chepchumba, and the team responded well to the change, eventually turning the game around.
"It is a great result because we started very slowly unlike Cameroon who thought they had it. Key changes in players allowed us to seize control of the game and we are glad we got the win," Ramdoo said in his post-match comments.
