On July 10, 2019, a gruesome discovery was made in Keberesi village, Kisii, where the lifeless bodies of two school girls were found. The victims, Stephanie Kerubo, four, and Diana Kerubo, nine, were discovered at their home, with the police suspecting that the killers might have defiled Diana.

According to the Deputy Head teacher at Riokindo Primary School, Mason Mirochi, who was the minors' guardian, he found his main gate locked at around 5pm. He jumped over the fence and as he approached the main door, he realised it was locked from inside. “I called the two children but none was responding. I went round the house and bumped on the two bodies lying on separate scenes,” he said.

Police fear that the killers might have defiled Diana, and are also trying to find out what caused a swelling on Stephanie's forehead. The officers are working to unravel the mystery behind the brutal killings, which also saw the culprits escaping with Sh36,000 from the house.

Kisii County Police Coordinator Martin Kibet assured that all behind the killing would be arrested, and called on the community to report any suspect linked to the killings. “Our investigative agencies have the responsibility to arrest the culprits, but the community must be willing to assist us,” said Mr Kibet.
