On a tragic Tuesday, a former Member of County Assembly (MCA) took his own life and that of his wife in a shocking double murder-suicide.

Richard Muchesia, a former MCA representing Isukha Central Ward in Kakamega County, had been living in Kajiado County after losing his seat in the 2017 general elections.

According to police, Muchesia, 42, used his licensed firearm to take away his life and that of his wife, Florence Okwach, 37, at their matrimonial home in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County.

Police suspect that the couple had matrimonial differences, which may have led to the tragic events.

Kajiado North Sub-county Police Commander Joseph Mwika stated, "He used his own licensed gun, which we now have in our possession," and added, "Investigations are still ongoing on why it happened, but we suspect the two had matrimonial differences."

Muchesia's life was marked by controversy, including a 2013 party at his rural village to celebrate his election victory, which was attended by former Cabinet Minister Nicholas Biwott.
