Published on July 12, 2019, Gor Mahia has embarked on a major clearout, releasing five players to create room for new arrivals ahead of the 2019/20 season.
Among those let go is Ugandan winger Erisa Ssekisambu, who failed to live up to expectations after joining the club from Vipers at the start of last season.
Former Tusker midfielder Cercidy Okeyo and hard-tackling central defender Pascal Ogweno, who was lured from Kariobangi Sharks, have also been released.
The departures have been on mutual agreements, with the club compensating players who had long-term contracts.
Goalkeeper Shaban Odhoji, who fell out of favour with the team's fan base last season, has also been released.
Little-known midfielder Castro Ogendo, who did not kick a ball the entire 2018/19 season, has also been dropped.
The club is still in the hunt for a prolific striker to fill the void left by Jacques Tuyisenge, who was transferred to Petro Atletico for a Sh15 million transfer fee.
