On Thursday, Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua revealed that his Maendeleo Chap Chap party is engaged in talks with other parties to form a strong coalition ahead of the 2022 presidential election.

Speaking at the launch of a model community health programme in Isiolo town, Mutua stated that he will vie for the presidential seat in 2022, saying, 'I have indicated and do so again that in 2022 I will vie to become the 5th President of Kenya. There is nothing wrong with that.'

Mutua emphasized the importance of prioritizing development matters over desperate campaign and politicization of national issues, saying, 'But I am not consumed by a near rabid and desperate campaign and politicization that is slowing down our economic growth.'

He also weighed in on the ongoing divisions between the tanga tanga and kieleweke teams, urging them to organize themselves without tearing the country apart.

Mutua lauded the commitment of Isiolo Governor Mohammed Kuti to providing quality healthcare for the people and urged other leaders to focus on transforming the livelihoods of Kenyans.

The Universal Health Coverage program, which was officially launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta in December last year, is currently being implemented in Machakos, Nyeri, Kisumu, and Isiolo counties.
