On Wednesday evening, two pupils from Tagare Primary School in Kuria West Sub-county, Migori County, were found dead in River Tagare.

Migori County Police Commander Joseph Nthenge confirmed the incident, stating that the bodies of the two pupils were discovered along the river by locals.

According to Nthenge, the bodies were found after locals spotted the pupils approaching the river on Wednesday morning. However, the pupils never made it to school, and it is suspected that they drowned.

Investigations into the deaths are ongoing, and the two bodies were moved to Pastor Machange Hospital mortuary awaiting police investigation and autopsy.

Nthenge urged parents to ensure they escort their children to schools, especially in areas where learners cross a water source, to avoid such deaths.
