On July 11, 2019, Labour Court judge Nelson Abuodha ordered former Kenya Airways CEO Titus Naikuni to personally pay a former corporate manager Sh10 million for sacking him in a t-shirt tiff.

Naikuni was ordered to pay Kepha Bosire Sh10 million, which includes Sh1.8 million for three months' salary in lieu of notice, Sh7.2 million for unfair dismissal, and Sh1 million for compensation for undignified treatment.

According to the court ruling, Naikuni's actions went outside his role as CEO and subjected Bosire to undignified treatment.

Bosire testified that Naikuni forcibly removed his blazer and stripped him of an Arsenal team t-shirt labelled Fly Emirates during a KQ event in October 2013.

Naikuni and KQ gave a differing account, stating that the event was at Maasai Mara and that Bosire was expected to wear KQ's brand clothes.

However, the judge faulted Naikuni, stating that there were other ways of dealing with his junior other than humiliating him.

Naikuni and KQ intend to appeal the decision by the court.
