Victor Wanyama, Mcdonald Mariga Meet DP William Ruto ¶
Kenyan football stars Victor Wanyama and McDonald Mariga met with Deputy President William Ruto in Nairobi on July 11, 2019, just days after Wanyama led Harambee Stars in the ongoing AFCON tournament in Egypt.
Wanyama's brother, McDonald Mariga, who is also a skilled midfielder, was also present at the meeting. Mariga had earlier visited Harambee Stars in their camp in Tanzania and encouraged them to stay focused.
The meeting was also attended by organizers of the Wanyama Royal Charity Cup, which aims to promote talent in the country.
It is worth noting that Harambee Stars had a disappointing outing in the AFCON tournament, winning only one match out of their three group stage matches and finishing third in the group with three points.
Kenya was defeated 2-0 by Algeria in their opening match, before beating Tanzania 3-2 in their second match. They drew 1-1 with Senegal in their final group stage match.
Coach Sebastian Migne has expressed confidence in the team's performance, despite their early exit from the tournament.
