The Indian Ocean island of Mauritius will host the 51st edition of the African Airlines Association (AFRAA) Annual General Assembly (AGA) and summit from November 10-12, 2019. The event was initially scheduled to take place in Yaounde, Cameroun, but was relocated to the InterContinental Mauritius Resort, Balaclava Fort.
AFRAA Secretary General Mr. Abderrahmane Berthé expressed gratitude to Air Mauritius and the host government for stepping in to host the event. 'We salute their commitment to the development of the African aviation industry,' Mr. Berthé said in a communique released from the association's headquarters in Nairobi.
Mr. Berthé praised Air Mauritius' legendary hospitality and commitment to the development of the African aviation industry. 'This is again a testament to their legendary hospitality and commitment to the development of the African aviation industry,' he added.
Air Mauritius Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr. Somas Appavou said his country was thankful for the role Air Mauritius had been called upon to play within the continental aviation body. 'A Small Island Developing State, being part of a broader partnership such as AFRAA is key for us to overcome the hurdles stemming from our insular status,' Mr. Appavou noted.
Mr. Appavou expressed his country's enthusiasm to contribute to the success of the event. 'We are looking forward to contribute in making AFRAA's next AGM a success,' he said.
