On June 26, 2019, detectives from the Serious Crimes Unit at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations raided the offices of Paul Kobia, a prominent Nairobi businessman, in Kilimani.

The officers were searching for records and documents, but reportedly struggled to gain access to safes for several hours.

According to sources close to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the raid may be linked to a case filed by foreigners.
