Shiyenze Khasoha, a renowned fashion designer, has come out to refute claims that she faked having ovarian cancer and duped Kenyans of millions of shillings. The allegations surfaced after two individuals claiming to be her caregivers told Citizen TV that she does not suffer from ovarian cancer as she had previously alleged.
Shiyenze, who has been in the spotlight recently, termed the allegations as a 'circus' and stated that they are untrue and unfortunate. In a statement, she revealed that she was diagnosed with Epithelial Carcinoma, commonly known as ovarian cancer, in March 2018 after undergoing numerous tests.
She further dismissed reports that her public campaign raised Ksh.2 million, stating that she has so far only received Ksh.600,000. Shiyenze also denied reports that she had undergone treatments at various hospitals, including the Aga Khan, MP Shah, and Karen hospitals, stating that these treatments never occurred.
Philip Oketch and Joyce Kakya, who claimed to be Shiyenze's caregivers, alleged that she never had any surgery at Apollo Hospital in India and that she never visited the country. They also claimed that Shiyenze would often create excuses for not attending appointments and that she would rush to Kijabe Hospital to seek a second opinion.
However, Shiyenze's lawyer, Charles Madowo, insists that he has documents verifying that the fashion designer was indeed battling ovarian cancer. The matter remains under investigation, with Oketch and Kakya having already recorded statements at Parklands Police Station.
