On July 11, 2019, Deputy President William Ruto welcomed Victor Wanyama and his brother MacDonald Mariga to his office, where they discussed their upcoming football tournament.

According to Ruto, the tournament aligns with his administration's efforts to promote scouting for sporting talent and develop youth to excel in sports.

"We support efforts that promote scouting for sporting talent; honing skills and developing youth to exploit their potential, including joining the ranks of professional sportsmen and women," Ruto said in a statement.

He added that strengthening the sports industry through adequate resource mobilisation and infrastructure development is key to ensuring youths excel in sport and earn a decent living.

During the meeting, Wanyama's stylish Louis Vuitton sneakers caught the attention of the Deputy President's team. The sneakers, which cost Ksh 93,000, are a true embodiment of luxury and comfort.

However, fashion enthusiasts can get their hands on similar sneakers at a discounted rate, with some online stores selling them for as low as Ksh 45,000.
