On Wednesday evening, a heinous crime shook Keberesi village in Kisii County, leaving two young lives cut short. The victims, four-year-old Stephanie Kerubo and nine-year-old Diana Kerubo, were found dead in their home, with disturbing signs of violence.
According to police records, the killers may have committed a heinous act of rape on Diana. The gruesome discovery was made by Mason Mirochi, a 50-year-old guardian and Deputy Head Teacher at Riokindo primary school, who arrived home at 5pm to find his main gate locked.
Police have arrested four suspects in connection with the murders, with Kisii County Police Coordinator Martin Kibet vowing to bring all those involved to justice. 'The Government will trace down all those who were involved...this is a bizarre murder and nobody should imagine that they can solve conflicts by resorting to killing innocent souls,' Kibet said.
The two bodies were taken to a private morgue in Kisii town, where they await identification and burial. The families of the victims, including the mothers Martha and Eunice, have been left reeling from the tragedy.
