Photos of Martin Kamotho, alias Githeriman, being carried on a trolley have sparked controversy, with many questioning his sobriety.
However, Githeriman has denied being drunk, claiming the photos made him cry in pain.
“Mwenye alipiga hii pic chunga sana. Aki nimelia,” he said, in a statement that has left many wondering about his condition.
For those who may have forgotten, Githeriman shot to fame during the 2017 elections after a photo of him eating githeri in a voting queue at Imara Primary school went viral.
The photo brought much-needed comic relief and earned him lucrative endorsements and packages.
However, his rise to fame was short-lived, as he was later reported to have returned to his old habits in Kayole, Nairobi.
As a result, President Uhuru ordered Kiambu women representative Gathoni Wa Muchomba to ensure that Githeriman is admitted to a rehabilitation centre.
Interestingly, Githeriman was among tens of Kenyans honoured by President Uhuru in 2017, receiving Sh100,000 for a Head of State Commendation.
