Kenya's Ministry of Education has assured that all arrangements are in place for the smooth conduct of the 2017 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams, which started today across the country.
Despite the rising political tensions heightened by the presidential re-run and announcement of Uhuru Kenyatta's win yesterday, the Ministry of Education has confirmed that everything is set for the standard 8 nationwide examinations.
Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i, the Kenya National Examination Council, and the Teachers Service Commission led a team on Monday to announce the preparation of KCPE.
As part of the preparations, the Ministry has introduced a third-level security management system to curb any cheats or irregularities in the nationwide examinations.
The exams will be conducted in 28,566 centers across the country, with a total of 1,003,556 students registered for this year's KCPE.
The pupils will sit their examinations in the following order: English Language in the morning, followed by composition in the afternoon, with Kiswahili Lugha, Insha, and Science slated for Wednesday and Religious Studies and Social Studies on Thursday.
There are new changes introduced in this year's examination, including the introduction of a candidate's passport photo on the answer sheets and the index number of candidates printed on the answer papers/sheets.
